A life in the Gunnery Branch of the Royal Navy, including Active Service in the two World Wars. Deeply researched and written by a son about the service and married life of his father, 'Alf'. A father who rose in rank from Boy Seaman to Commissioned Gunner, and gave his life in a desperate attempt to save his bomb-devastated ship. Mainly based on logs and journals of the nine ships in which Alf served from 1912 to1941, on Courts of Enquiry, and on naval actions arising in WW1 & WW2.
