Comely Grace

Comely Grace is a story of Farnham townsfolk in the early 1640s,
centred on Abigail, a lass on the cusp of womanhood.
Her volatile father Jacob controls his family and his tannery.
Abigail's love for little orphan bastard Hal seems as un-
requited as her love for horse dealer Ralph. When both go
to war they seem lost to her, the only news comig from her
carter brother Tom's chance encounters, delivering gun-
powder. Women cope with scant news and a town flooded
with strangers. And are religious differences worth the
sacrifices?
Farnham Castle becomes an Army staging post, in constant
danger of attack. War comes closer, and so does Ralph,
with agonising uncertainty of whether he has been killed
or survived.
